This is the last bridge into Emerald, it is very much underwater and will stay that way til at least Monday.

These two huge white cockatoos are very timid so the big lens had to come out to get this shot without having to get too close to them and have them fly off as they have done for the past 4 days. Big lens is good, must use it more often.

This is our favourity Orchid.

It is resting at my parents place now that it has finished flowering for the time being.

It was travelling with us since we were at Mission Beach.

Fairbairn Dam

The awesome power of the water pouring over the normally high and dry spillway is a sight to behold. 

The level of the water as of the 28th December 2010. It will rise even higher til at least new years eve. More photos to come of the spillway at full height of floods.

Second day of our journey

 We are parked behind the Central Highlands Watersports Club house on the northern banks of Lake Maraboon, close to Fairbairn Dam spillway. 

Our little home is very quiet and private. We do however share it with a lovely chorus of various parrots and nightly frogs in full song. The only time we have to share with humans is when the club members have booked the house for the weekend. That is not possible now til the water level drops. We can drive out of here with our little Suzuki 4x4 only. The old track is overgrown and very boggy but can be done if we realy have to leave for food.

Our First Journey

Our first day on the road with "Green & Gold". The steering is heavy and the clutch will add muscle to Derek's left leg and the accelerator will add muscle to his right leg. So all good, my husband will look like a gym junky if we travel too often.
