Welcome

Welcome to Derek and Karen's travel blog. We hope you will enjoy following our journey around Australia the slow way. We will try to keep our blog entertaining for you with our photography and highlights and the occasional lowlights (hopefully not too many of those). We have a couple of adds on the right that you are more than welcome to click on to view, that will help us along the way. The add about the Amazon Kindle is about our favourite choice of ebook that we read for at least 2 hours every day. We have a Kindle each and down load all sorts of books to read on them. So we hope you enjoy our blogs.

Derek and Nugget up on the little hill at Lake Keepit.

The Lake is behind me.

Derek is wondering why I am photographing him instead

This is our new town Tamworth.                        We are up on the hill with a beautiful lookout park.                                                                  Well worth driving up there to see the view of Tamworth and the surrounding countryside.

The Big Golden Guitar tourist centre here in Tamworth
was a good place to visit and read about the impressive variety of Australian country music entertainers.
There are about twenty of these life size wax figures of famous Aussies to look at on your way around the walk of fame museum. They have a nice coffee shop in there as well as the usual gifts and Tamworth tee-shirts to buy.

On the road from Fairbairn Dam to Tamworth.
We drove for three days, wollowed around in 37c mineral thermal pools and saw lots of emu along the way.

Our site at Tamworth
We haven't put our awning out due to the strong winds.

Tomorrow we will.

Fairbairn Dam is now just a tiny trickle.

We have no new news at this moment. So I thought I should share a photo we took of this young male humpback whale last year in August at Hervey Bay, Qld. He came up from under the whale watching boat and I scored a lovely series of shots of him. This one is him inhaling before disappearing down under again.
I call this photo, "Whale back riding".
If you have the time, do go to Hervey Bay in September or October to go out on one of the boats. It is worth the trip.
